Here at Road Pictures we love to shout out a bit when our colleagues do well...and in this case it's one of our great directors, Dinh Thai.

You may recognize the commercial spot he shot with us last year for Holiday World, but you might've heard his name buzzing in film festivals around the world. His short film "Monday" has won over 50 awards, including Best Director, Best Actor and Next Generation Filmmaker at the NBC Universal Shorts Fest.  He's nominated for Best Comedy Short at New Filmmakers Los Angeles; that award will be announced on April 6.  It's streaming now on Cinemax, and was on HBO.

It follows a day in the life of a guy on his bike on the streets of LA.   Here's Dinh's own description:

“What can I get to you?” That’s the question driving a conflicted young hustler who sells everything and anything to make money. As he ‘code-switches’ through various cliques, he’s forced to confront racism as well as the immorality of his occupation.

This is an incisive film that raises many questions while taking most of you to a world very different from your own.

It does contain strong, graphic language and I wouldn't show it to my kids if they were under 16.

In other news, Dinh has also been selected for the current class of Disney/ABC TV's Directing Program, one of just 15 directors invited into the program.

The best part is that even though Dinh is certainly keeping busy, he isn't too busy to continue helping Road Pictures produce the best work for our clients. We are thrilled for him and all his accomplishments, and we can't wait to produce your next commercial with Dinh at the helm.   Call or email and we'll get you a reel!
